What is Wicca?

Wicca is a neo-pagan religion that emerged in the mid-20th century, largely through the work of Gerald Brosseau Gardner. His High Priestess, Doreen Valiente, refined many of his teachings and gave the famous Wiccan Rede: “An it harm none, do what ye will.” Wicca draws inspiration from pre-Christian European folk traditions, witchcraft, ceremonial magic, and nature-based spirituality. Over time, several traditions developed, including Gardnerian, Alexandrian, Seax, Dianic, Faery, Shamanic, and others. Rooted in reverence for nature and ancient deities, Wicca is also influenced by Celtic culture, reflected in its four major fire festivals.

What is Paganism?

Paganism is earth-based spirituality which views the world as sacred and alive. Pagans honour many Gods and Goddesses, spirits and cosmic forces in many different ways. In paganism, natural cycles, moons and seasons guide various rituals and festivals throughout the year. Both magick and intention hold spiritual and practical meaning. Paganism includes various traditions and faiths like Wicca, Hellenism, Kemetics, Druidry, Heathenry, Norse Paganism, Celtic Paganism, Eclectic Paganism, Asatru (a part of Heathenry) and many more.

WITCHCRAFT = WISECRAFT

Witchcraft is a spiritual and magickal practice which roots in nature and energy. It includes rituals, spells, herbs, divination and connection with the divine cosmic forces. Unlike what is shown in the movies and media, the real witchcraft is the way of life. It is a journey of spiritual growth and soul evolution. Witchcraft is a very personal, intuitive, sacred path of mother nature. It connects us to our real selves and challenges us to overcome the conditioned mind. It brings us on a path of self-awareness, protection, manifestation and the real connection with the universe.

Witchcraft has ancient roots dating back to thousands of years. In ancient Egypt, Greece and Mesopotamia, magick was a part of daily life spirituality. But witches faced a dark period of the hunt during the Middle ages and Renaissance. The wise ones, the ones who had the real knowledge of nature were hunted and killed brutally for believing in the Goddess, five elements and nature. It was the time when the word “Witch” gained a bad image. In reality it is a matter of pride for the Witch community worldwide because to be a witch is to be the wise one. A witch is a healer, a teacher and a wise man/woman who knows the ways of the universe and can help people around. Witchcraft is the craft of the wise one. The one who knows that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Wise ones know that whatever energy you release in the universe comes back to you with the power of three.

MAGICK vs. MAGIC

A magician with a tall hat, juggling balls and playing card tricks is the one doing magic. Magic is a visual trick for the purpose of entertainment. But magick with a “k” is the change of energy by the intervention of the higher will. Some people say majick/majic etc,. But it remains the same, it is the craft of altering energies to bring about a change in the outcome. The word “Magick” was popularized by the famous occultist Aliester Crowley. It is an art of directing energy and intention for transformation. Magick is done for manifestation, healing and spiritual connection. Magick includes rituals, rites, spells, meditation, divination, sigil work and different kinds of energy work.
